1st National Fire Conference & Expo in Nigeria

 


Conference Background:



The 1st National Fire Conference & Expo in Nigeria will be convene by House of Representatives Committee on Interior in-charge of Fire Matters in collaboration with Fire Disaster Prevention and Safety Awareness Association of Nigeria and the Federal Fire Service.
The aim of this conference is to create awareness and provide platform for stakeholders to address the fundamental challenges faced by the Fire Sector in Nigeria and Africa in general.

African Continent and Nigeria in particular have suffered many devastating effect of incessant fire outbreaks which has severe consequences on our environment, people, investment, growth and opportunities.
Annually, several billion worth of properties and human lives are loss to fire disasters in Nigeria and Africa leading to increase in poverty and underdevelopment.

The National Fire Conference & Expo “NFCE 2009” will address:

  1. How to develop an effective communication system and water supply for fire-fighting purposes as well as issue of fire legislation and code.
  2. Ways to build more Fire Stations and improve on the state of fire-fighting equipment in the States and Local Governments.
  3. The Conference will serve as a platform to expose participants to the basic fire safety practice/standard required to ensure fire protection, detection and control at homes, offices and working environments.
  4. It will examine ways to tackle the problem of road traffic that hinders effective response to fire scene with respect to the Right of Ways for fire fighting vehicles on emergency calls.
  5. Strategies to promote massive fire awareness across board especially amongst the political and decision makers.
