Conference Organizers-:

What you need to know about fire in Nigeria

Hon. Jerry S. Manwe

Chairman, House Committee on Interior, NASS

Hon. Jerry S. Manwe was born in Jen, karim Lamido local government area of Taraba state on the 26th of June, 1958.

He had his elementary education in Lau L.E.A before proceeding to government secondary school Jailingo where he obtained his first school leaving certificate.

His insatiable quest for knowledge further took him to the Federal Polytechnic Mubi where he obtained a certificate in accounting.

To further consolidate his professional calling as an accountant, Hon. Jerry proceeded to the federal university of technology Yola and obtained a higher diploma in Accounting and Business Management.

He first worked as an accountant at the Mubi burnt bricks, a state owned industry in Adamawa state and also at the college of agriculture Jalingo.  Through out his work career he was known to be a prudent manager of resources, diligent and an unassuming young man who people say easily warms up to other people.

Little wonder therefore that the people voted him to represent them in the federal house of representative in 1991.

While in the house, he got the endorsement of his colleagues to become the chairman house committee on finance and economic planning.

After the dispensation was prematurely terminated, hon. Jerry went back to his home state Taraba to help stabilize things for the relatively new state.

In 1999, with the coming of the present dispensation, Hon. Jerry was assigned the portfolio of the commissioner for housing and urban development.

He was subsequently to become a member of the national Christian pilgrim board and later the chairman national commission for colleges of education (NCCE).

In 2007, hon. Jerry Manwe was again overwhelmingly elect into the federal house of representative as member representing Ardo-kola, Lau and Karim-Lamido federal constituency of Taraba state.

A realist administrator and a bold reformer, his mission to his people had been strengthened by an earlier resolved in life to help who ever comes his way.

His story is the account of his dependence on God to give him the ability to carry on.

His sojourn in politics is for a set purpose- to liberate the minds of people. His confession concludes with a rather pious hope on this account that he would never part with his people.

The pillar of the renaissance of Jenjo nationalism who like the African warrior king sleeps on his feet to get the job done.

Hon. Jerry Manwe is both a mixture of an idealist and pragmatic politician.

He is a skilled politician gifted with lively intelligence.  Latent in this man are immense political gift which found only limited scope in the role he plays in every political dispensation.

The visionary side of his character goes hand in hand with a genius for affairs and mastery of men.

He exudes charisma, a quality every one recognizes, but no one can describe.  A sure fire winner as candidate for any political office.

He is a man with supreme self confidence, iron clad will, and a healthy degree of self control and esteemed.

He may be quick, but not always prone to mistakes.  He has an exquisite mind and so he engages with lethal candor.

He is a home serieux in both the literal and broader sense of the world.
